For some reason the word “serenity” has always appealed to me. To me, it has always been associated in my mind with general moods of happiness, radiance, tranquility and let’s just say…everything good. And when I say everything good, I mean – as fluffy and mushy as this may sound – that I may sometimes associate the word to hypothetical scenes of flying butterflies, smiley faces and beautiful flowers everywhere (yes, yes, like the ones I have spread on this blog page). As definition has it, the word “serenity”, I believe, does in fact reflect such image, in which it means “the state or quality of being serene, calm or tranquil”.
So where does the ‘blissfulness’ part of the name fit in?
Just like “serenity”, the word “bliss”, connotes “supreme happiness, utter joy or contentment”. It too has always been one of my favorite words, mainly due to the lovely meanings it implies, but partly also due to the musical rhythm the sound of the word actually has – rhythm of which I have forever applied to the word “serenity” as well.
Hence, together I find that both words come complementary to one another; representing a general feeling of brightness and optimism.
As someone who has so often been characterized as an optimistic person among my family, friends, co-workers and colleagues in general, I have come up with “Blissful Serenities” as the name to this blog. Although it is true that I may lose my optimism at times due to the many misfortunate happenings that take place in the world around us every day, I remain to have hope. I don’t believe I could change the world, however hope that through my blog I can at least shed light on some of the beautiful meanings we have in life, that as a result of being so over taken in our many busy lives, have almost forgotten they even exist anymore.
That certainly doesn’t mean that all my posts will be all that blissful…for surely life can have its many gloomy times as well. Nonetheless, by also shedding light on these ‘less happy’ aspects of life, I hope I can help provide a base for comprehending some of the reasons behind them, in an attempt – I hope – to reach an ultimate state of serenity in the end.
That brings me to the end of my first post on this blog :) Stay tuned for more posts to come!
